Computerized Digital Dermatoscopy

Computerized Digital Dermatoscopy has become a fundamental tool in Dermatology over the last few years, being essential in the early detection of skin cancer.

It allows the physician to observe body lesions with magnification of up to 400 times, being particularly important in the diagnosis of melanocytic lesions.

 

At the Clínica de Dermatologia Grupo Sofia Magina, we have digital dermatoscopes from internationally renowned brands (ATBM Master by Fotofinder®, Visiomed by Canfield®) and each dermatologist has a dermatoscope for personal use (DermLite DL4®).

Dermoscopy has evolved significantly over this century and has expanded its applicability. It is fundamental in the early diagnosis of cutaneous melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, among others. It also has applicability in the diagnosis of benign lesions such as seborrheic keratoses or angiomas, diagnosis of hair and nail diseases (trichoscopy and onychoscopy, respectively), diagnosis of inflammatory dermatoses or parasites (inflammoscopy and entomodermoscopy, respectively), etc.

For all these reasons, dermatoscopy is a fundamental tool, whose preponderance is increasing everyday. With the advent of artificial intelligence devices, it allows early diagnoses and the realization of total body mapping.
